The Parks and Recreation Department will host an Arbor Day Tree Planting Celebration on Friday, April 27 at the William “Bill” Austen Youth Center (315 SW 2nd Avenue). The event begins at 11 a.m. and is open to the public.
Trees for the annual celebration were donated by Parks and Recreation and LCEC. A tree will be planted in honor of Youth Center Counselor Ryan Rogowski, who died earlier this year.
The event will conclude with a proclamation recognizing Cape Coral as a Tree City USA.
This is the 27th consecutive year the City has received the Arbor Day Foundation designation. Tree City USA recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.
