The City is reminding Cape Coral residents to follow the mandatory two-day watering schedule for irrigation. A lack of rainfall is impacting the City’s irrigation supply, and residents need to be conserving water now to prevent tighter watering restrictions.
“Residents have done a good job up to this point conserving our water resources,” said Utilities Director Jeff Pearson. “We need their help a little bit longer to get us through the driest part of the season.”
Cape Coral Code Compliance will be increasing enforcement efforts of the City’s watering schedule. There have been 1,756 illegal watering cases since the beginning of the year. Canal levels are higher than this time last year but conservation is important.
During the winter and spring months, lawns do not require as much water as the summer months. In fact, setting automatic timers to water 20-30 minutes in each zone should provide adequate irrigation for residential lawns. Hand watering also is allowed at any time. Residents who need help setting their timers can call 3-1-1, and the City may be able to provide assistance.
The two-day watering schedule applies to all residents whether they use the City’s dual-water system or private wells for irrigation. The watering days and hours depend on the last number of the home address.
Here is the two-day schedule in effect year-round for all of Cape Coral:
