Friday, May 17, 2019, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the Bank OZK, 61 Hancock Bridge Pkwy W in reference to a Bank Robbery that had just occurred. The call was received at 2:35 pm and officers arrived shortly thereafter but the suspect had fled before police arrived.
The suspect is being described as a white male, dressed in jeans, a black long sleeve shirt, and a Steelers baseball cap. The suspect came into the bank and handed the teller a note which demanded money. No weapon was displayed or seen by the employees within the bank. The teller gave the male an undisclosed amount of US currency and the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction by an unknown means of travel.
A detective from the Major Crimes Unit, K9, and a forensic technician responded to the scene. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
A Ping4alerts! And a Facebook Local Alert was sent out warning citizens to avoid the area during the active investigation.
