Debris removal beings Monday in Cape Coral

Hurricane debris removal in Cape Coral will begin on Monday, September 18. Residents are asked to follow these guidelines to ensure debris is removed in an efficient and timely manner:

Residents are asked to follow these guidelines to ensure debris is removed in an efficient and timely manner:

  • Storm debris will be picked up separately from household trash and recycling.  Trash pickup began this week and Waste Pro will begin picking up recycling along with household trash beginning Monday, September 18.
  • Place debris at the curb in separate piles: vegetative debris, construction debris, appliances.  Do not place debris in the roadway for safety purposes. The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires documentation of the type and volume of debris collected to reimburse the City for debris removal. (see the FEMA Debris removal guidelines)
  • Debris removal contractors will require several rounds of pickups to collect all hurricane-related debris.  Once the debris is placed at the curb it may take several weeks to be picked up, please be patient.
  • Vegetative debris does not need to be bundled or cut into small pieces, simply place debris in the appropriate piles at the curb.
  • Cape Coral residents can drop off vegetative and construction debris at the residential drop-off area located at Pine Island Road and Andalusia Boulevard.  Access to the site will be from NE 7th Street to NE 10th Avenue.  The site will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., beginning Saturday, September 16.  Proof of Cape Coral residency will be required (e.g. driver’s license, utility bill, etc.). The debris drop-off site is only available to City of Cape Coral residents. Commercial contractors will not be allowed to use this site and will be required to use their normal debris disposal sites. (See Residential Debris Drop-Off Site Map).
