Considering recent events regarding the news of an alleged KKK group in the City of Cape Coral and threats made to a candidate running for City Council, Council Member
Richard Leon has announced he will be organizing a rally to denounce hate groups or hate crime in Cape Coral.
The rally will be held at the Yacht Club beach on Sunday September 10, 2017. Council Member Leon has requested people meet just west of the pavilion on the beach at 7:00 pm. The group will be there for an hour.
The #CapeCoralStrong Rally is a call of citizens to gather together in one voice to stand against the hate plaguing not just our City, but the Country. Council Member Leon stated:
“I have lived in Cape Coral all my life, I know the land, the culture, the people. This is
NOT Cape Coral. This is not who we are as a City, as a People. I ask that my fellow
residents join me in taking a stand against the hate and declare in one voice that no
matter our backgrounds, no matter our life choices, no matter who we are, we are
Cape Coral and we will not be labeled a hateful city.”
A Facebook event will be created. Details can be found at www.facebook.com/4RichardLeon
