Citizen Receives Commendable Action Coin For His Service

Chief David Newlan introduced the ‘Citizen Commendable Action Coin’ wanting to recognize citizens that go above and beyond. The recipient is presented with the coin along with a card that reads:

Thank You For Your Commendable Action. On behalf of the Cape Coral Police Department, please accept this Challenge Coin in appreciation of your positive actions that make this community GREAT!

The Citizen Commendable Action Challenge Coin is given by an Officer of the Cape Coral Police Department to a civilian that performs an extraordinary act(s) or in the recognition of exemplary behavior.

Officer Duffy wanted to commend the efforts of James Tower for his dedication to our community.

“I have seen James riding his bicycle in the area of Del Prado Blvd and Viscaya Pkwy for approximately four years. James is well known to other officers as he stops out with them and offers bottles of water.

I met James today and learned he rides his bicycle around the area and picks up trash from the street and businesses. James also rides to the Police Department and picks up palm fronds from the public area of the building. James never asks for praise for his service but does his acts in a humble and private manner.

I believe James’s acts over a period of years demonstrate an act of community involvement and civic participation that should be commended, and I issued James a Cape Coral Police Citizen Commendable Action Coin in recognition of his community involvement.”- Officer Jonathan Duffy

Thank you, Officer Duffy, for taking the time to recognize James Tower for his dedication and selfless efforts to help our community.
