A Cape Coral woman was arrested by detectives with the Cape Coral Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit on an out-of-state warrant 20 years in the making.
This week, the Major Crimes Unit worked with investigators from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin on a cold case homicide dating back to 1999. Racine County worked tirelessly for two decades to identify the deceased (initially a “Jane Doe”) and identified the victim recently as 23-year old Peggy Lynn Johnson. They then developed Linda Laroche (W/F, DOB: 10-10-55), a Cape Coral resident, as a suspect.
CCPD Detectives assisted Racine County investigators with interviews and evidence collection, and Racine County was able to obtain an arrest warrant for the arrest of Linda Laroche for first-degree homicide in Peggy Lynn Johnson’s death. The CCPD Major Crimes Unit, along with investigators from Racine County, arrested Laroche on this warrant, and she will now be extradited to Wisconsin to face charges.
If anyone in the Cape Coral area has any information regarding this case that may assist the Racine County Sheriff’s Office in furthering this investigation, either through contact or conversation with Laroche or any other means, please contact Racine County Lieutenant Brian Vanscyoc at (262) 886-8497.
