Cape Coral Police Make Arrest in Murder Investigation

On June 16, 2019, around 7:53 pm, Cape Coral Police received a 9-1-1 call with an open line at 838 SW 47th Terrace, Apartment A203.

The call taker initially heard a muffling sound on the open 9-1-1 line, then heard what sounded like a female screaming and a male saying “stop.”  The line then disconnected and was busy when dispatch called back. Officers arrived at the apartment and found a key broken in the door and keys lying on the ground outside the apartment.

Officers made entry and, once inside, they located a white female in the bedroom of the apartment lying on the floor.  The female appeared to have several stab wounds to her body, including a large laceration to her neck.  The female had no signs of life and was declared deceased. A black rope was seen on the floor near the victim’s ankles and a red rope was hung from outside the bedroom and around the room.  The living room area had additional blood and signs of a disturbance. The screen on the rear lanai of the apartment appeared to be damaged where Kyle Patrick Orr (W/M, DOB: 09/18/1987, LKA- 2106 SE 10th Ter) had fled the scene.

A Ping4alerts! was sent out notifying the public of the increased police activity, which can be found here.

Officers did not locate anyone else inside the apartment; however, they were advised that a witness observed a shirtless male cutting himself on the arm with a large knife while heading westbound from the location of the victim’s apartment on foot.  Officers were able to follow a blood trail westbound across the front parking area and then around to the rear of 906 SW 47th Terrace amongst the utility line.  Orr was located hiding in the bushes partially dressed without shoes and was taken into custody. Orr was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his self-inflicted injuries.

A large bloody knife was found on the concrete slab of the uncovered rear patio area which was in close proximity to the area where Orr was found. A Silver Chrysler Sebring bearing a Florida tag was parked in the parking lot of 838 SW 47th Terrace.  Kyle Orr was documented driving this vehicle on May 8, 2019, following a disturbance at 838 SW 47th Terrace, the victim’s residence.

Detective Maris Lebid with the Cape Coral Police Department Major Crimes Unit was contacted and responded to the scene.  A search warrant was executed at the victim’s residence where a pair of men’s shorts were located in the master bedroom and in the pocket of the shorts was a wallet containing Kyle Orr’s driver license.

Based on this continuing investigation, Detective Lebid found probable cause to believe that Kyle Orr committed 2nd Degree Murder to the victim. Kyle Orr is currently admitted at a local hospital pending further medical treatment, until his release and transfer to Lee County Jail.

The victim is identified as Jessica Taylor Landor (W/F, DOB: 07/18/1988, 838 SW 47th Ter # A203). The victim’s next-of-kin have been notified.
