Juvenile Steals Car and Runs From Police

On May 25th, 2019 at 2:44 am, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service on SW 37th Ter in reference to a vehicle burglary in progress.

According to the caller, he went outside to smoke a cigarette when he heard people talking. He looked up and saw three males dressed in dark clothing approaching his driveway. They started to walk towards his car, but he startled them by asking “What can I do for you?” The males then ran northbound through the back yards, to a waiting car parked on SW 37th Street. The caller then saw them get into a dark colored sedan and drive eastbound.

Officer Zarillo arrived in the area and knowing that the neighborhood was surrounded by canals, he parked his patrol vehicle in between SW 37th Terrace and SW 37th Street. Officer Zarillo located the small four door vehicle driving his way. He turned on the overhead emergency lights and stopped in the roadway.  The vehicle revved up its engine, and started to drive directly towards Officer Zarillo’s patrol vehicle and swerved almost striking the patrol vehicle. While the vehicle was driving directly towards Officer Zarillo he could clearly see the driver as being a young male, who he recognized through numerous law enforcement contacts, as Alexander Bradford Majewski (W/M, DOB: 10/02/2003).

Throughout the next hour, the vehicle was seen multiple times throughout the city driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed. It was last seen driving southbound on Del Prado Boulevard, with no tire on the front passenger side, with heavy smoke coming from it. It went eastbound onto Cape Coral Parkway and into Fort Myers where Lee County Sheriff’s Office were able to follow the track marks from the rim.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office was able to follow the track marks where the vehicle was left behind a business. Detective Costa of the Cape Coral Police Department Property Crimes Unit responded to assist with the investigation.

On May 25, 2019 around 8:00 pm, Cape Coral Police conducted a traffic stop on a Blue Honda Civic at the 200 block of NW 24th Avenue. Majewski was located inside the vehicle and taken into custody based on Officer Zarillo’s probable cause.

Majewski was charged with Grand Theft of a Vehicle, Grand Theft, Flee and Elude Law Enforcement, and Driving Without a Valid License.

Majewski was later transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
