On February 10, 2019, around 2:22 AM, Officer C. Ross noticed a black Ford Mustang convertible stopped in the southbound left-hand turn lane on Santa Barbara Blvd, at the intersection of SW 24th Street.
When the light turned green, the black Mustang proceeded to make a U-Turn at a high rate of speed causing the rear tires to loose traction and burnout. The black Mustang then proceeded northbound on Santa Barbara Blvd at a high rate of speed.
Officer C. Ross caught up to the Ford Mustang that was traveling 60-mph in a 45-mph zone and conducted a traffic stop. The Mustang stopped in the inside turn lane at the intersection of Santa Barbara Blvd and Trafalgar Parkway. The officer made contact with the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, Vincent Ivan Parlato (W/M, DOB: 07/02/1988, 4314 SE 18th PL) and explained the reason for the stop.
Parlato was very argumentative and would not follow directions. Parlato finally supplied his Drivers License to Officer C. Ross. After Parlato handed the Drivers License to the officer he put the vehicle in gear and took off at a high rate of speed turning westbound on to Trafalgar Pkwy.
Attempts to locate Parlato were unsuccessful, but on February 18, 2019, around 8:20 PM Officers located Parlato at his residence and he was taken into custody without incident.
Parlato was charged with Flee and Eluding Law Enforcement and Resisting Law Enforcement Without Violence.
He was later transferred to Lee County Jail.
