On August 9, 2018, Cape Coral Police Detective N. Malone received an anonymous tip through the Internet Crimes Against Children that Randy Wayne Carlson (W/M, DOB: 05/28/1950, 1512 SE 8th Ave) was in possession of child pornography.

Detective Malone immediately began his investigation. Upon the return of his subpoena request, the information he obtained from the thorough investigation determined Carlson was indeed in possession of child pornography. Detective Malone completed a warrant request and submitted it to the State Attorney’s Office for approval.

During this time, Detective Malone had gained information that Carlson had fled to Kentucky in an attempt to avoid arrest. The warrant was approved by the State Attorney’s Office. The United States Marshals Service located and arrested Carlson in Kentucky on December 27, 2018.

Carlson was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography. He was transferred from Kentucky to the Lee County Jail on January 18, 2019.
