Residential Burglary Suspect Who Took Guns Arrested

On September 17, 2018, around 6:30 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 2900 block NE 3rd Ave in reference to a residential burglary.

The victim advised that upon returning home from work the house had been entered and a safe was pried open. Three firearms (two rifles and a handgun) and a lock box were taken from the closet safe and two packs of cigarettes were taken from a carton in the freezer.

The lock box that was taken from inside the safe contained the family’s social security cards, birth certificates, vehicle titles, and other miscellaneous paperwork.

The investigation determined that Justin Conrad Peddycoart (W/M, DOB: 12/29/1971) gained entry into the victim’s residence via the rear sliding door. The residence happened to be a family member of Peddycoart’s to which he had knowledge of items that he wanted to steal. Peddycoart then went straight to the bedroom, pried open the safe, took two rifles, a handgun, and the lock box from inside the safe and left the location.

Based on the evidence and investigation Peddycoart was arrested for armed burglary and grand theft. The firearms were sold to an unknown person prior to arrest.

Peddycoart was transferred to Lee County Jail.
