A major crash yesterday just after noon at the 1100 block of Nicholas Parkway West resulted in a fatality of a motorcyclist.
Major Crash Investigators responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. The synopsis of the crash from the Major Crash Investigators are as follows:
VEHICLE 1: Gray 2007 Lexus RX-350, Minnesota tag, driven by Matthew Aaron Cain, DOB: 11-15-78, Cape Coral, FL. Cain suffered no injuries in the crash.
VEHICLE 2: Black/Green 2017 Kawasaki ZR900, Florida tag, driven by Tyler James Harris, DOB: 11-29-00, Cape Coral, FL. Harris died from injuries he sustained in the crash.
Vehicle 1 was traveling southwest on SW 11th Street approaching the intersection of Nicholas Parkway West. Vehicle 2 was traveling northwest on Nicholas Parkway in the right hand travel lane approaching the intersection of SW 11th Street.
Vehicle 1’s driver stated that he did not see any approaching traffic on Nicholas Parkway and pulled out into the intersection with the intention of making a left turn. Vehicle 1 pulled out directly in front of Vehicle 2.
The front of Vehicle 2 struck Vehicle 1 in the left front wheel well ejecting Vehicle 2’s rider over the hood of Vehicle 1. Vehicle 2’s rider came to final rest in the median.
LCEMS arrived on scene and began CPR on Vehicle 2’s rider, but he was later pronounced deceased on the scene.
Major Crash Investigator J. Barkley and A. Satterlee responded to the scene. Forensics and a Victim’s Advocate also responded.
Alcohol/drugs are an unknownfactor at this time. Speed is an unknown a factor at this time. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.
