Three Pelican Elementary Students Receive The Do The Right Thing Award

On May 24, 2021, the Cape Coral Police Department awarded three students from Pelican Elementary School the Do the Right Thing Award.

Alanah Rivera Rodriguez is a first grade student. While waiting for the bus, Alanah noticed a plastic bag with money on the ground.  She turned it in to a school staff member. For turning the bag in to school officials, Alanah was awarded the Do the Right Thing award.

Elijah Gallardo and Eli Sanchez are fourth grade students. When another child brought a realistic looking dangerous device to school. Eli told Elijah about seeing the realistic looking dangerous device. Elijah convinced Eli to tell a school official. The device was later found to be a toy. For their bravery in coming forward to school officials about this incident, they both received the Do the Right Thing award.
