Cape Coral Police Department Update on Early Morning Shooting

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of SE 6th St around 4:30 am on April 24, 2021. When officers arrived, they found multiple shell casings on the roadway of SE 1st Ave.

While investigating the shots fired reports, officers discovered Kevin Girard Palmer (B/M, DOB: 6-23-01, of Fort Myers) with a gunshot wound to his head. Palmer later died as a result of the injury. Next-of-kin has been notified.

The investigation revealed a disturbance started after a family from Lehigh Acres rented an Air BNB to celebrate a 17th birthday.

An Instagram personality posted about the party.

The post resulted in multiple people arriving uninvited to the party. A disturbance ensued away from the residence. During the disturbance, multiple shots were fired.

After the scene was secured, officers began to canvass the neighborhood and found two houses and two vehicles with bullet holes in them.

This is an ongoing and active investigation. The Cape Coral Police Department needs your help. If you have any information on the identity of the suspect(s), please contact the Cape Coral Police Department by calling 239-574-3223.
