Results of August 24th “Saturation Saturday” Traffic Operation

On August 24th, 2019 the Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic saturation operation (wolfpack) dubbed “Saturation Saturday.” Partner agencies that also participated in the operation (and generated their own enforcement statistics) were the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Myers Police Department, Sanibel Police Department, and Florida Highway Patrol. The operation was a saturation patrol that was conducted citywide, focusing on identifying and taking impaired drivers off the road as well as targeting areas with traffic issues that cause crashes. In addition to traffic violations, this operation yielded 1 arrest for driving under the influence. Below are the detailed results of this operation:

CHARGES: Driving Under the Influence

Martin parked his vehicle in front of officers without parking in a parking spot. Martin then exited his vehicle and began to urinate. As the officers were instructing Martin to stop urinating, he got back into his vehicle and drove away without utilizing the vehicle headlights. A traffic stop was completed and Martin showed signs of impairment. Martin additionally had numerous open beer cans in his vehicle. During the DUI investigation, Martin performed poorly on field sobriety exercises and was arrested. BAC%: Refused.
