Impaired and Reckless Driver Intentionally Rams Another Vehicle

On May 11, 2019, around 10:57 pm, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 2400 block of Burnt Store Rd in reference to a reckless driver.

The reporting person observed a white pick-up truck recklessly pull out of the Yucapan area onto Burnt Store Road, doing donuts and stopping traffic in both directions.  The white pick-up truck then intentionally accelerated straight into an occupied vehicle (Porche Cayenne) on Burnt Store Road head-on, causing severe damage. The white truck then backed up and again smashed head-on into the same occupied vehicle.

Officer Ross located the suspect vehicle southbound from that location moments later. The white pick-up truck was stopped at the 7-Eleven at Burnt Store Road and Tropicana Pkwy. The driver (Shazam Juman, W/M, DOB: 12/03/1992, 1708 Roosevelt Street, North Port) of the vehicle showed signs of impairment and was slow to exit the vehicle.  A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from Juman’s person and breath.  The two occupants of the Porsche gave statements that they felt like they were going to be killed by the driver of the white pick-up truck. Juman refused a breath test.

Juman was charged with 2-counts of Aggravated Assault With Deadly weapon, DUI, DUI With Property Damage, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Mischief.

He was later transferred to Lee County Jail.
