On February 21, 2019, around 2:21 AM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at 1415 Ne Pine Island RD (Swift Lube Plus) in reference to a past occurred commercial burglary.
The assistant store manager of this location passed by and noticed the front door of the business had been shattered. It was found that money was taken from the cash register and the nightly deposit that was stored in the back room.
The assistant store manager was able to provide surveillance video footage which showed a white male who arrived in a newer model Honda Civic at 10:37 PM and used a metal pipe to smash the front door. The video also shows an injury to the suspects right arm apparently from the glass door.
When the unknown male made entry into the store by the front door he quickly went to the cash register and spent seconds in the back room retrieving the money which he appeared to have knowledge of its location. The male hurried out of the front door and dropped several dollar bills and left them behind.
Forensic Technician Potts processed the scene and collected evidence and Property Crimes Unit Detective Iten responded to continue the investigation.
Detective Iten later made contact with the Owner/General Manager of Swift Lube Plus who was able to identify the male suspect in the video. Detective Iten and Detective Costa made contact with the suspect that was identified, Jacob Alan Lange (W/M, DOB: 11/10/1981, 6056 Eagle Watch Court, North Fort Myers) as he pulled into a parking spot at 13160 Corbel Circle in Fort Myers. Jacob was placed under arrest without incident.
Lange was charged with Commercial Burglary and Grand Theft.
Lange was later transferred to the Lee County Jail.
