Burglars Fire Gun They Just Stole While Trying To Run Away

On February 18, 2019, around 1:40 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service in reference an Occupied Burglary with shots fired at 2033 NW 4th Street.

A witness explained that he saw two people standing between his house and his neighbor’s house; a white male and white female. One was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, and the other was wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt, with the hoods pulled over their heads but the witness could still see their faces. One of the individuals was holding a camouflaged rifle.

The witness confronted the subjects who then began running with the rifle across the street. While running, a round was discharged from the rifle indiscriminately and then the suspects threw the rifle into a pepper bush across from the witnesses house. Both subjects then ran eastbound behind the houses on the south side of the road and out of sight.

Cape Coral Police found the rifle in the pepper bushes where the witness saw the suspect throw it.

The investigation determined that the two suspects, Alexander Bradford Majewski (W/M, DOB: 10/02/2003, 113 NE 18th PL) & McKenzie Paige Silverman (W/F, DOB: 09/19/2000, 2005 NW 5th Ter) burglarized the home through a rear unlocked door. The home was occupied by one adult who had been sleeping. The rifle had been inside the residence prior to the burglary.

Cape Coral Police Property Crimes Unit Detectives Dan Iten and Daniel Costa responded to assist with the investigation. While on their way to the scene, the descriptions of the male and female suspects seen running from the scene were communicated. Detective Iten drove down NW 5th Terrace and saw both suspects walk out the front door of 2005 NW 5th Terrace (Silverman’s residence) and get into the rear passenger seat of a Honda. The vehicle then drove away from the residence and Detectives Costa and Iten stopped the vehicle and took both into custody without incident.

Both Majewski and Silverman were charged with Armed Occupied Burglary and Grand Theft Firearm.

After processing, Silverman was transferred to Lee County Jail and Majewski was transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
