Valentines Stalker Arrested On Multiple Charges

On February 14, 2019, at around 2:12 AM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service in reference to a burglary in progress. The victim reported that a male was inside of her home against whom she has an active injunction for stalking; James Timothy Karabes-Boening (W/M, DOB: 09/13/1980, 253 Mongoose LN, North Fort Myers.)

Upon arrival, Cape Coral Police began an investigation which determined that James made entry into the victim’s home and went into her bedroom where he stood at the foot of the bed. The victim was awoken by James’ voice saying he wanted to wish her a Happy Valentine’s Day. The victim was able to convince James to leave the room and she immediately called 9-1-1. A records check did show an active injunction against James stating he was not to be within 500 feet of the victim’s residence.

James fled the area prior to Cape Coral Police arrival but was located driving a green Honda Civic. His vehicle was seen turning off Chiquita Blvd S into a dead end where an officer initiated a traffic stop. James drove away from the traffic stop after being given verbal commands. The Honda was located a short time later abandoned when James fled on foot. An aviation unit and K9 responded to the scene.

At approximately 5:34 AM, a Cape Coral Police Officer was sitting on Chiquita Blvd S when he noticed a white male matching the description of James. The officer made contact with the male who gave the name of David Lawerence and said he was just out for a walk. The male was identified to be James and arrested.

James was charged with Violation of Injunction, Occupied Burglary, Aggravated Stalking, Resisting Officer without Violence, Giving a False name to LEO, and having an Outstanding Warrant.

He was later transferred to the Lee County Jail.
