On September 20, 2018, around 3:15 AM, the Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at the 1200 block of SE 19th LN in reference to a possible vehicle burglary by three males. The complainant advised that he observed three male suspects wearing hoods attempting to enter vehicles in the neighborhood.
Arriving Patrol Officers were not able to locate the suspects at the original call location but began to search the neighborhood. An officer found a silver Mitsubishi Galant with extensive body damage parked at the 1500 block SE 19th LN with the dome light on. As the officer drove closer towards the vehicle it was determined that someone was inside. The officer turned on his spotlight and the two suspects jumped out of the vehicle, which was parked in an empty lot, and ran. The vehicle they were seen exiting was confirmed to be stolen.
Officers set up a containment area and requested additional resources. The Aviation Unit and K9 responded to the scene to assist in locating the two suspects. The Aviation Unit arrived on scene and found the two suspects hiding behind a residence at the 1500 block of SE 19th Lane. K-9 Suka quickly located the two suspects and they were taken into custody. A Cape Coral Police Department Property Crimes Unit detective responded to assist with the investigation.
