Community Comes Together to Help Raise Money for Single Mothers
In February, The New Beginnings of Southwest Florida, Inc. (TNB) held a Benefit Gala for the second year in a row. It was held at the Crown Plaza hotel ballroom in Fort Myers, where the guests were given a three-course meal. They also engaged in a live auction where the bidding on items reached a value of over five thousand dollars. During the event, an anonymous donor came forward and gave a matching donation of 40 thousand dollars. Overall from ticket sales, the live auction, and personal contributions, TNB raised over $100,000 total.
As part of the evening festivities, a live interview of the organization’s founders Bill and Mary Masters was conducted. This interview gave them the opportunity to speak about why they felt moved by God to start TNB and the challenges they have faced throughout the years. They also discussed how the money raised from the benefit gala would help the organization continue its mission to provide assistance and guidance to single mothers and their children in Southwest Florida.
The money raised from the benefit dinner will afford the program the ability to keep its doors open for their current residents. The organization is looking to the future in hopes of creating a building fund and acquiring more sponsors to expand their program. By purchasing more property, the program will be able to accommodate more single mothers and their children.
