Lee County Band to Present Christmas Concert Dec. 10, 2017
If you love traditional Christmas music, but also enjoy new twists on familiar tunes, the Lee County Community Band Christmas will present a Christmas concert just for you. The performance is set for 3 p.m. on December 10 at Cape Coral High School.
The program begins with Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus from “The Messiah”, and continues with White Christmas, several carol medleys, a sing-along, Brazilian Sleigh Bells, Jingle Bells in Dixie and Christmas “al la” Big Band.
The band performs six concerts between November and April; all take place at Cape Coral High School, 2300 Santa Barbara Boulevard, beginning at 3 p.m. The concerts are free (donations accepted) and open to the public.
Additional concert dates are Jan. 21, Feb. 11, March 11, and April 8, 2018.
An institution in Southwest Florida, the band enjoys a large, loyal, and enthusiastic audience at every concert. Programs typically include a mix of energetic marches, Broadway hits, old favorites, patriotic songs, seasonal pieces, and sing-alongs with emcee and vocalist Norman Jones.
Directed by Richard Bradstreet, the 50-member adult band rehearses Thursday evenings in Fort Myers. Band members are musicians from all walks of life – career musicians, amateurs, and folks renewing skills from years past – who reside in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte Counties. The band welcomes new members every year. Persons interested in joining may phone Norman Jones at 239-995-2097.
