Drones not permitted at Red, White, and Boom for public safety
The Cape Coral Fire Department is instructing Red, White, and Boom attendees to leave their drones at home. With a large crowd, the possibility of a medical emergency or injury occurring that would require medical evacuation increases.
“Time is always of the essence when providing medical care. Even more so when the patient requires transport by medical helicopter,” said Cape Coral Fire Department Battalion Chief of EMS Anthony Demos. “If Lee Flight must wait for drones to land before they can enter the area to assist a patient in need, then much needed, and potentially lifesaving, time is lost.”
In addition, flying them over crowds and flying them at night is illegal. To ensure all attendees have the safest and best experience, drones are not permitted.
