Hobby Lobby plans to open a new 50,000-square-foot store in Cape Coral in early June.

The store will be located in Coralwood Mall on Del Prado Boulevard, just north of Veterans Parkway and the Midpoint Bridge.

The national crafter and home décor retail chain will occupy the space where JC Penney was previously located. The shopping center was purchased by a development group in December for $36.1 million. 

Hobby Lobby has 53 locations in Florida.
