Please join us in congratulating CCPD School Resource Officer Ed Schilff on receiving the Lifesaving Award, one of the Department’s highest honors.
On March 31st, 2021 while Officer Schilff was working as the School Resource Officer at Cape Elementary School, he heard screaming coming from the kitchen area and cafeteria employees calling for help.
Upon entering the kitchen he saw an employee on the floor unconscious and not breathing. Officer Schilff requested medics be dispatched and then took over CPR from another employee who had been providing CPR.
Shortly after Officer Schilff began CPR, the employee regained consciousness and became responsive and alert. EMS arrived and continued care for the employee, who survived.
Due to the quick actions of Officer Schilff and the patient’s fellow employee, the patient of this incident made a full recovery. For this reason, Officer Schilff received the Lifesaving Award from Chief Tony Sizemore.
