Officers Respond to Burglar Alarm and Find Two Burglarizing a Business

On December 29, 2018, at approximately 3:12 AM, Cape Coral Police received and responded to a burglar alarm at a business, “Experimac,” at 1031 Santa Barbara Blvd S.

As Officer Vesnki arrived on scene at 3:14 AM, he observed a large window broken on the west side of the business facing Santa Barbara Blvd S. The officer heard a noise inside and then what he thought to be a car door closing in back of the business.  As the Officer went toward the rear of the business, he observed a silver vehicle parked directly behind the rear door with its lights on.

As he walked closer, he observed two males dressed in all black with their faces partially covered walking from the business toward the silver car.  As the Officer approached the two males, he gave them a command to stop but they immediately ran east on foot.  Officer Venski gave a description of the males over the radio as he chased them on foot.

The Officer continued to chase the males east on Nicholas Pkwy through a vacant field, behind houses and over fences. Officer Tronchet ran after a male in an open field and ordered Carlos Eduardo Hodgson (B/M, DOB: 12/12/1982, 160 N/E 167 ST, Miami) to stop and to get on the ground and ultimately complied.

During the same time, just north of the location, Officers on perimeter attempted to stop a blue pickup truck leaving the area within the perimeter. The truck sped up and left the scene after marked patrol cars attempted to pull it over with lights and sirens activated but the vehicle fled the area.

Cape Coral Police Property Crimes Unit Detective Alex Mino-Ramirez responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The surveillance video shows the two males grabbing items and putting them in bags. Several items stolen in the burglary were located within the silver vehicle left at the scene.

Hodgson was arrested and later transported to Lee County Jail.

If you have any information on the identity of the suspect that fled, please contact the Cape Coral Police Department at 239-574-3223.
