The only occupant was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  A Major Crash Investigator, Victim Advocate, Forensics, and a Drug Recognition Expert responded to assist with this investigation. A Ping4alerts! was sent, warning drivers and residents of the traffic hazard.

The preliminary synopsis of the Major Crash Investigator is below:

VEHICLE 1:   1999 red Pontiac Sunfire convertible 2-door, Florida tag# EGIA62.

DRIVER 1:   John E. Lamp, Jr, 58 year old, W/M, of Cape Coral.

DRIVER 1 INJURIES:   Lamp suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

 SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound in the outside travel lane of the 400-block of Diplomat Parkway East, approaching the intersection at NE 4th Place. Vehicle 1 left the roadway to the right, continuing to travel east across several vacant lots. Vehicle 1 then struck the septic field mound in front of 410 Diplomat Parkway East, causing Vehicle 1 to become airborne. Vehicle 1 continued east where the front of Vehicle 1 again struck the ground. The impact caused Vehicle 1 to rotate on its side and then its top as it slid across the lot and onto the roadway on NE 4th Place, where it came to final rest.

The driver of Vehicle 1 suffered life threatening injuries and was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Major Crash Investigators and a Drug Recognition Expert responded to take over the investigation.
