TIME:  4:21 PM

LOCATION: 3410 SW 5th PL

CR#:  18-016706

ASSIGNED THI: Officer D. Gray

VEHICLE 1:  White 2013 Dodge Challenger 2-door car.

DRIVER 1:  Robert George Lunger, W/M, 8/3/1956, 3434 SW 5th PL, Cape Coral, Florida, 33914.

DRIVER 1 INJURIES:  Lunger died as a result of a possible medical episode leading to the crash.

SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling north at the 3400-block of SW 5th PL after exiting the driveway of the residence located at 3434 SW 5th PL. Vehicle 1 left the roadway to the right and entered the lawn of the residence located at 3431 SW 5th PL where it initially appears to have become stuck in the grass for a short time. Vehicle 1 then began to move again, steered back onto the roadway in front of 3427 SW 5th PL. Vehicle 1 crossed SW 5th PL diagonally from south to north and then exited the roadway to the left onto the lawn of the residence located at 3422 SW 5th PL. Vehicle 1 then continued north across the lawns and driveways of three more residences before it sideswiped a tree and bottomed out on large decorative rocks in front of 3410 SW 5th PL where it came to final rest.

Vehicle 1 was moving at a very slow speed at the time of the collision; damage to Vehicle 1 was minor. A neighbor noticed the vehicle and came over to provide assistance approximately 10-minutes after the crash.

Initial responding officers found Robert Lunger in the driver’s seat with the vehicle gear in ‘Drive’ and his foot still on the gas pedal. Lunger was unresponsive and attempts by LCEMS paramedics to revive him were unsuccessful. Lunger may have been suffering a medical episode that contributed to the traffic crash.

Traffic Homicide Investigators, Drug Recognition Expert, Forensic Technician, and a Victim’s Advocate responded to the scene.
