A traffic stop for a red light violation led to the discovery of almost 450 grams of marijuana, marijuana wax and the arrest of the driver.
On May 29, 2018, at approximately 10 p.m. a CCPD Patrol officer observed a white sedan run through the red light at the intersection of Del Prado Boulevard and SE 26th Street. The officer stopped the vehicle a few blocks south and made contact with the driver, Austin Grimm (DOB: 7-17-98). The officer could immediately smell an overwhelming odor of raw cannabis emanating from the inside of the vehicle, and Grimm was detained.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a white trash bag containing two gallon-size Ziplock bags full of marijuana, as well as a small amount of marijuana and a grinder in the center console. Also found in the trunk was a container with a large sheet of THC wax. The marijuana was weighed at 449.2 grams, and the wax was weighed at 33.3 grams. Based on these discoveries, Grimm was placed under arrest and transported to the Lee County Jail.
