TripAdvisor has released rankings of the “20 Best Places to Vacation in Florida.”

Naples, Marco Island, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Sanibel Island were included ahead of major cities like Orlando and Miami. 

Naples was highlighted for shopping opportunities, the Naples Princess and Collier-Seminole State Park; Marco Island was praised for Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park and the Marco Island Historical Museum; Cape Coral was named for its “shelling along white sands;” Fort Myers was recognized for its key sights like Thomas Edison and Henry Ford’s Winter Estates; and Sanibel Island was noted for its beaches, Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, and J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

The 20 destinations featured are among the highest-rated cities in Florida based on rental reviews on the website. To qualify the cities needed to have at least 1,000 traveler reviews and a minimum of 50 bookable vacation rental properties.
