Traffic Stop for Speed Results in Arrest for Cocaine, Painkillers and Steroids

A traffic stop for speeding led to the driver’s arrest on numerous drug offenses.

On Sunday, February 25, 2018 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a Cape Coral Police patrol officer observed a silver Cadillac speeding at the 600 block of Cape Coral Parkway East. The officer stopped the Cadillac and made contact with the driver, Edward Mitchell (DOB: 2-14-81). A K-9 officer and his K-9 arrived as backup, and an open-air sniff of the vehicle alerted to the presence of narcotics.

The subsequent search of the vehicle discovered cocaine, prescription painkillers, and anabolic steroids in Mitchell’s trunk. Mitchell was placed under arrest and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance without prescription x3 (for two types of steroid and the painkiller) and possession of a vehicle for the purpose of selling drugs. Mitchell was transported to the Lee County Jail.
