The Lee County School District has been recognized as a Healthy School District by Florida’s Healthiest Weight Initiative and has earned the Gold Certification Award Level.
The Healthy School District Award was established by the Coordinated School Health Partnership to support districts establishing a culture and climate in which students and staff can reach their full potential.
Additionally, 11 Lee County schools have earned the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) recognition. The HealthierUS School Challenge is a voluntary certification initiative that recognizes schools that go above and beyond in their efforts to promote nutritious meals, physical activity, and nutrition education.
Schools that become certified will maintain certification for four years and may reapply once their certification has expired.
