Cape Coral Masonic Lodge Trunk or Treat 2017 A HUGE Success

Put on by the Cape Coral Masonic Lodge #367, thousands turned out for a free trunk or treat event last Sunday, just 2 days before Halloween. The event featured a haunted house, trick-or-treating from vehicle trunks, food, prizes, games, and exhibits from various community organizations.

For the fourth year, organizers encouraged non-perishable food donations from participants to benefit the Cape Coral Caring Center. This year, the lodge collected over 1,200 lb. in food donations for the cause.

Giving back to the community is a huge reason why I’m proud to be a member of the Cape Coral Masonic Lodge,” said Scott Peacock, Grand Master of the Lodge.

Clutching their treat bags, thousands of eager children lined the block around the lodge to enjoy the festivities. A long event, this year’s trunk or treat lasted 4 hours. The amount of time was relevant to the number of participants.

Every year it has grown exponentially,” said Peacock. “I think we are an established commodity, at this point, in terms of our trunk or treat. The kids really enjoy the variety that we offer.”

Peacock estimates that nearly 100,000 pieces of candy were distributed to those in attendance, with 30,000 of those pieces provided by the lodge. The candy provided by the lodge was available for participants who ran out of candy before the end of the event.

I loved how well organized everything was,” said Denise Ahlstrom, local business owner and participant of the event. “I was not expecting that many people. We did not run out of anything but saw some people that did. The organizers came around with more candy so that people didn’t have to turn anyone away.”

Our goals are the same every year,” said Peacock. “We want to put on an event that is well-planned and well attended while providing the families and children in our community with a safe and enjoyable experience during the Halloween season.”
