Student Arrested for Written Threats

On September 13th, 2022, at approximately 8:07 p.m. officers from the Cape Coral Police Department were dispatched to 701 Chiquita Blvd N (Mariner High School) in reference to a school threat.

There were multiple reports from concerned students and parents due to a Snapchat photo that was circulating that referenced Mariner High School (MHS) getting “shot up” on September 14th, 2022. Responding officers conducted a comprehensive preliminary investigation and Cape Coral Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

Detectives were able to identify the alleged suspect as Angelina Elizabeth Leeper (W/F 01-29-2008, 1485 Piney Road, North Fort Myers) who is a student at Mariner Middle School. Detectives responded to Miss. Leeper’s residence and began investigating.

Miss Leeper originally denied any involvement in the posting but later admitted to detectives that the Snapchat account did belong to her, and she admitted to speaking with a friend earlier in the night about a possible shooting at “MHS”.

The investigation revealed that Miss Leeper changed her accounts of what occurred several times and was unable to dispel detectives’ fears that she wouldn’t carry out those specific threats.

Miss Leeper was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.

Miss Leeper was charged with the following:

*Written Threat to Conduct a Mass Shooting or an Act of Terrorism F.S.S. 812.13(2)(b).
