First Incident: On December 22, 2018, around 7:45 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service at Mermaid Liquor’s at 125 Del Prado Blvd N in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the victim, he was at the store and saw a male, later identified as Bryan Alfonso (W/M, DOB: 06/09/1989, 1423 NE 17th Terrace) in the parking lot. Alfonso appeared to be having a conversation or altercation with another patron in the parking lot. The victim came out of the store and got into his vehicle. After getting into his vehicle, Alfonso pulled back into the parking lot and parked his vehicle very close to the victim’s driver side door.
Alfonso then exited his vehicle with a handgun and squeezed between his vehicle and the driver side door of the victim’s vehicle. While standing at the window, Alfonso yelled and screamed while pointing a silver firearm at the victim and banging it on the driver side window.
The victim was able to back out of the parking lot and obtain the license plate number of the Jeep driven by Alfonso. While he was attempting to obtain the license plate number, Alfonso again jumped out of his vehicle, brandishing the silver firearm. Alfonso then left the scene.
Second Incident: Around 7:51 PM, shortly after the original call, another victim reported that a male pulled a gun on him. The victim advised that Alfonso was still in the grey Jeep and pulled a gun on him at the WaWa, 1622 NE Pine Island Road.
The victim and his friend were standing in the parking lot of WaWa near a parked car. While they were standing there, a gray colored Jeep pulled up next to them and the occupant yelled at them to close the car door. The occupant then got out of the Jeep and pointed a silver handgun at him while again yelling to close the door. The victim jumped into the car and sped away. Alfonso fled the area.
Third Incident: Around 8:01 PM, officers responded to RS Discount Liquor, 1609 Andalusia Blvd, in reference to another disturbance with weapons. The victim from this call for service reported that while driving on Andalusia Blvd, Alfonso pointed a gun at her from his Jeep. She observed the Jeep in the parking lot and advised Cape Coral Police of his location.
Officers with CCPD arrived at 1609 Andalusia Blvd and were advised by a witness that the subject who had been recently reported as threatening citizens with a firearm was now inside the bathroom of the business.
Alfonso eventually exited the business through the front door and was detained. While clearing the business to ensure it was safe, an officer noticed one of the ceiling tiles had been moved in the bathroom where Alfonso had just been seen by a witness. Upon checking the area above the ceiling tile, the officer located the silver firearm.
The Cape Coral Police Major Crimes Unit and Forensics responded to the scene to continue the investigation. The handgun that Alfonso possessed was run through a records check and was determined to have been stolen out of Cape Coral in 2015. A records check also revealed that Alfonso is a registered convicted felon. Based on the investigation, Bryan Alfonso arrested.
Alfonso was charged with 3-counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, 3-counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and 3-counts of Improper Exhibition of a Firearm and transferred to Lee County Jail.
