Thanks to an observant neighbor and a quick response from Patrol units, the Cape Coral Police Department caught a burglar in the act on Saturday afternoon.
On February 10, 2018 at approximately 3:00 p.m. police were called by a neighbor who said they saw a white male wearing a black hoodie and tan pants breaking and entering into the window of a home in the 200 block of SE 45th Terrace. The neighbor watched as the man then left the residence running north with a black box in his hands. Other callers began calling and reporting the suspect fleeing over fences and through yards. Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the area.
Officers on foot searching the perimeter located and caught the suspect matching the description, identified as Cole Manns (DOB: 1-21-98). Manns was positively identified as the man who had broken into the home. He had also been seen throwing a pill bottle into a canal which was retrieved by officers. This pill bottle had the address of the burglarized home on it, and Manns was in possession of 4 of the pills which he himself did not have a prescription for.
Manns was placed under arrest and charged with unoccupied burglary of a dwelling, grand theft, criminal mischief, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was transported to the Lee County Jail.
