Pedestrian Injured in Early Morning Crash on Cape Coral Parkway

Cape Coral Police Department Major Crash Investigators responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash early this morning at the 800 block of Cape Coral Parkway East. Traffic was affected for approximately 3 hours, and a Ping4Alert was sent out to notify drivers in the area. The synopsis of the crash from the Major Crash Investigator is below.

VEHICLE 1:   2007 green Ford F150 pickup, Florida tag.
DRIVER 1:   Calvin D. Taber, 6-29-60, W/M, of Cape Coral, FL.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES:   Taber was not injured in the crash.

PEDESTRIAN 1:   Monica Constantino, 8-21-67, W/F, of North Fort Myers, FL.
PEDESTRIAN 1 INJURIES:   Constantino suffered serious injuries in the crash.

SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound in the inside travel lane of the 800-block of Cape Coral Parkway East just east of the intersection at Coronado Parkway. Pedestrian 1 was walking northbound across the eastbound lanes of Cape Coral Parkway East, approximately 60’ east of the intersection and marked crosswalk, at Coronado Parkway. Pedestrian 1 crossed in front of Vehicle 1 causing the front of Vehicle 1 to impact Pedestrian 1. Pedestrian 1 struck the front grill and hood of Vehicle 1 and was thrown approximately 34’ from the point where Vehicle 1 came to rest in the outside travel lane of Cape Coral Parkway East. Pedestrian 1 came to final rest in the eastbound right turn lane of Cape Coral Parkway East.

Constantino suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital where it was determined that her injuries were not life threatening. The driver of Vehicle 1 was not injured.

THI Officer C. Mills, DRE Officer D. Fessel and CCPD Forensics also responded.

Alcohol/drugs ARE NOT a factor in the traffic crash. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.
