The Cape Coral Police Department investigated a serious injury crash last night at the 300 block of Del Prado Boulevard South, which resulted in one of the five DUI arrests from over the weekend. The synopsis from the Major Crash Investigator is below, followed after by information on the rest of the weekend’s DUI arrests.

VEHICLE 1:  Red 2015 Dodge Journey, SUV,  Florida tag. 
DRIVER 1:  Michael Glen Bretsnyder, W/M, 10/22/1972, 1716 NE 1st Street, Cape Coral, FL.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES:  Bretsnyder was not injured in the crash.
PASSENGER 1: Maria Belen Wojciechowski, W/F, 8/31/1973, of Cape Coral, FL.
PASSENGER 1 INJURIES: Wojciechowski was not injured in the crash.

VEHICLE 2: 1993 Honda Del Sol, 2-door vehicle, Florida tag.
DRIVER 2: Kenneth Charlie Dushane, W/M, 7/26/1994, of Cape Coral, FL.
DRIVER 2 INJURIES: Dushane suffered serious injuries in the crash.

SYNOPSIS:

Vehicle 1 was exiting the driveway of a business located at 304 Del Prado Boulevard South into the southbound lanes of Del Prado Boulevard. Vehicle 2 was traveling south in the center lane at the 300-block of Del Prado Boulevard S. Vehicle 1 turned south into the path of Vehicle 2. The left front quarter of Vehicle 1 collided with the right side of Vehicle 2. The impact caused the rear of Vehicle 2 to rotate clockwise as it continued south along the inside south lane. As Vehicle 2 turned sideways it collided with the center median curb, began to roll left and became airborne; Vehicle 2 continued south along the center median where it collided with a tree in the center median. After impact with the tree, Vehicle 2 rotated counterclockwise and came to final rest on its roof in the south inside lane of Del Prado Boulevard S. Vehicle 1 was disabled in the collision and came to final rest in the south lanes of Del Prado Boulevard S near the final rest for Vehicle 2.

The driver and passenger of Vehicle 1 were not injured in the crash. The driver of Vehicle 2 was trauma alerted to a local hospital with serious injuries, though they were later determined to not be life-threatening. The driver of Vehicle 1 was showed signs of impairment and was arrested on scene.

MCI Officers D. Gray and Ofc D. Fessel responded. CCPD Forensics also responded.

Alcohol/drugs ARE a factor in the traffic crash. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.
