Cape Police Arrest Teen for Two Counts of Grand Theft Auto

Officers responding to a reckless driving complaint located the vehicle and its driver, with the vehicle turning out to be stolen.

On November 11, 2017 at approximately 12:15 a.m. Cape Coral Police officers responded to the 800 block of Hancock Bridge Parkway in reference to a reckless driving complaint involving a silver Dodge Challenger. Officers located the car which was confirmed as stolen. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Jose Borrego (DOB: 8-8-01) was detained. Further investigation developed probable case for Borrego’s arrest not only for the stolen Challenger, but also for a prior auto theft in Cape Coral on November 6th. Borrego was additionally charged with 5 outstanding warrants (for burglary, grand theft, petit theft, trespassing and absconding), as well as possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia. Borrego was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
