Cape Coral Police are investigating a serious injury crash that sent one to the hospital just after midnight, last night.

At 12:02 AM, Cape Coral Police responded to the intersection of Averill Boulevard and Gator Circle on a single-vehicle crash.  Responding officers found that a vehicle left the roadway, striking the rear of a home.

The driver sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Investigators believe the crash to be alcohol/drug-related.

The preliminary synopsis of the Major Crash Investigator is below:

VEHICLE 1:   1986 Ford 2-door car.
DRIVER 1:   Kevin Michael Doyle, W/M, DOB: 30, of Saint James City, Florida.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES:   Doyle suffered non-life threatening injuries.

SYNOPSIS:  Vehicle 1 was traveling northbound in the inside lane of Averill Boulevard approaching the intersection of South Gator Circle. Vehicle 1 accelerated north rapidly through the intersection of Averill Boulevard and South Gator Circle, crossed all eastbound and westbound lanes, and then left the roadway into a vacant lot on the north side of South Gator Circle. Vehicle 1 then continued northbound across the vacant lot until striking the chain link fence around the property at 1614 NE 34th Lane at the rear of the lot. Vehicle 1 then drove over the fence continuing northbound where the front of Vehicle 1 impacted the rear of the structure at 1614 NE 34th Lane.

The driver of Vehicle 1 suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.  Due to injuries, Major Crash Investigators Satterlee and C. Mills responded. 

At the hospital, it was determined that the driver of Vehicle 1’s injuries were serious but no longer life-threatening.  This traffic crash IS alcohol/drug-related.  The next-of-kin HAS NOT BEEN notified.  Case pending further MCI investigation.
