Cape Kid with Style Karleigh Acosta

Submitted by family friend Kathy Weber-Moldawsky

Karleigh Acosta is a senior at Mariner High School who leads by example on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community. She is that rare student-athlete who possesses athletic excellence, academic achievement, and a passion for helping others.

With proven tenacity on the soccer field, a 4.12 GPA, and a host of Honors and AP courses, Karleigh will be enrolling at Northwestern State University in the Fall of 2018 and will be playing soccer for the Division I NW State Demons where she will be majoring in Health and Exercise Science, with an eye toward graduate school for Physical or Occupational Therapy.

With soccer as a passion, Karleigh has utilized her talents and compassion for others, volunteering at soccer camps and clinics throughout SW Florida teaching young children skills, sportsmanship, and sharing her genuine love for the sport. In addition, she spends many weekends working as a referee for the competitive teams in the area. Her own soccer resume includes many elite soccer programs throughout the state of Florida, including our local Cape Coral Cyclones program and the Brandon-based West Florida Flames, a member of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) which included travel all over the country, including North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey, just to mention a few.

Karleigh spent the summer playing in several leagues, most recently the first semi-professional women’s soccer team with the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions. She is currently playing for the Florida West GPS soccer club, an affiliate of Bayern Munich, a professional German soccer team, while continuing to train for her upcoming senior season at Mariner High School.

Thank you, Karleigh for being such an amazing young women. You are definitely a Cape Kid with Style!
