The Cape Coral Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has made a pair of arrests regarding a heinous case of human trafficking, sexual battery, kidnapping and robbery.
On May 19, 2017, the Cape Coral Police Department began a kidnapping investigation into Laila Fouissi (DOB: 8-14-97) and a male accomplice. Fouissi, who was the juvenile victim’s boss, learned of financial issues suffered by the victim and told her she could get her a job as a stripper if she would meet a male friend of Fouissi’s. This man, later identified as Darnell Walker (DOB: 8-24-83), along with Fouissi, took the victim under a bridge where Fouissi ordered the victim to perform a sex act on Walker. After the victim refused she was forced to do so by Walker and Fouissi.
Fouissi and Walker made additional threats to the victim while driving her home after the incident to obtain her debit card, withdrawing money from the victim’s account. Cape Coral Police detectives along with Child Protective Services built a case, and on June 2, 2017 Laila Fouissi was arrested and charged with kidnapping, sexual battery, and robbery. The investigation continued, and on August 8, 2017 Darnell Walker was located in Broward County and arrested for sexual battery, kidnapping, robbery, and human trafficking charges. The investigation is ongoing.
“Our Major Crimes Unit worked nonstop on this case from the start to make sure those involved in this truly evil act were held responsible. We are very proud of the work our detectives did to bring this pair to justice, and for the continuing work they are putting into this ongoing case to stop this from happening to others.” ~Cpl.
