Citizen Tips and Evidence Help Locate a Hit and Run Driver

On October 24, 2018, around 10:49 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a call for service in reference to a hit and run crash with injuries.

A 17 year old female and an 18 year old male had been hit by a vehicle at the intersection of SW 17th PL and SW 32nd ST. The investigation determined that the vehicle was making a turn but during the process cut the turn too soon and partially left the roadway by driving into the grass. The vehicle then struck both teenagers causing injuries. One teenager had to be transported to a local hospital.

Allicia Marie Harrington (W/F, DOB: 10/07/1979, 3420 SW 3rd Ter) stopped and spoke with the teenagers. But when one of them said they were calling the police, Harrington got back into her vehicle and fled.

On November 26, 2018, Cape Coral Police were able to locate Harrington and her vehicle based on citizen tips and evidence. Harrington had even made an insurance claim about the damage to her vehicle which had already been repaired. She did not report that she hit pedestrians or call the police.

Harrington was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Hit and Run with Injury; each a felony.
