March 26, 2020 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
The City of Cape Coral is hosting community meetings to gather input from residents on how to address community issues such as housing and community development needs.
All community meetings are open to the public and will be held:
- Thursday, March 26 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the City’s Chester Street Resource Center (4816 Chester Street)
- Tuesday, March 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the City’s Public Works Building, conference room A 200 (815 Nicholas Parkway East)
All input will be considered in the development of the 2020-2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Consolidated Plan.
The City is required to submit a Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to receive federal grant funds under the CDBG Program. The Consolidated Plan sets the City’s strategic objectives to address community needs through HUD funding. The Annual Action Plan outlines how the City will spend the funds it receives annually from HUD.
The City anticipates it will receive about $1 million in CDBG funds for 2020-2021. These funds may be used for public facilities and infrastructure projects, public services, affordable housing-related projects, homelessness, and economic development activities. Projects must primarily benefit low-and moderate-income persons.
A survey was developed for anyone who is unable to attend one of the community meetings and wishes to provide input. The survey can be accessed via www.surveymonkey.com/r/CapeNeedsSurvey.
Participation in the survey enables the City to prioritize its HUD funding. All responses are anonymous. For questions about this survey or accommodations for persons with disabilities or limited English proficiency, please contact Millie Babic, City of Cape Coral Community Development, at (239) 574-0596 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
