Cape Coral Working to Improve Broadband Service to Residents

In August, the City of Cape Coral submitted a request for federal grant funding to improve the broadband service in the areas highlighted in blue on the attached map.

At this time, the current service providers in these areas have challenged the City’s request stating their service currently meets the minimum acceptable levels of 25 mbps download speed and 3 mbps upload speed.

We are asking our residents living in the areas designated on the attached map to help us help you.  We need data from our residents that shows the actual download and upload speeds of their internet service.  The easiest way to obtain these speeds is to perform an internet speed test.

An internet speed test measures the speed between your device and a test server, in this case using your home internet connection.  It is an evaluation of your existing broadband parameters.  There are many speed test applications and websites you may use to perform the test.

It should take less than 5 minutes of your time to run the test and then submit your numbers to the City.

To enter your results, please visit:  https://egov.capecoral.gov/speedtest – there will be a form for you to enter your address and your upload and download speeds.

For the convenience of our residents, we have added a link to Speedtest on our webpage.  Visit our website, capecoral.gov, click on SPEEDTEST FORM in the top banner and the page contains two links, one to the map of the service areas and one to the Speedtest.
