On March 31, 2021, around 12:10 pm, Cape Elementary kitchen staff employee Blanca M. Guapacha was working in the cafeteria and heard screaming coming from the kitchen. Blanca found another kitchen staff employee lying on the ground, unconscious, and not breathing.

Blanca immediately began performing CPR. School Resource Officer Schilff arrived and continued CPR. Due to their efforts, the kitchen staff employee regained consciousness and began to breathe again.

Due to Blanca Guapacha’s quick efforts to begin CPR, a life was saved. It is due to her extraordinary efforts that she has received the Citizen Recognition Award.
