Three suspects were arrested on warrants authored by the Cape Coral Police Department after a detailed and involved investigation that stretched out-of-state and hundreds of miles.
On February 22, 2021 three teens (later identified as Tanya Denson, B/F age 17 of Valrico, FL; Angleena Mikhaylov, W/F age 17 of Tampa, FL; and Milad Boroojeni, B/M age 17 of Tampa, FL) traveled from Tampa to Cape Coral. They spent the night in Cape Coral, on the streets. Later interviews with Tanya and Angleena indicated that they had no family, friends or any reason to be in Cape Coral during that time.
On February 23rd at around 6:50 a.m. the three teens were in the McDonald’s at 1222 Cape Coral Pkwy East.
At 6:57 a.m. Tanya and Angleena walked to the Seven Eleven at 1206 Cape Coral Parkway. They stood near the front entrance, and watched the victim arrive and park near the front doors to the business. The victim went inside and left his car unlocked with the vehicle running.
Tanya immediately entered the driver seat and Angleena entered the passenger seat. Tanya then drove the car back to McDonald’s and picks up Milad. Milad entered into the driver seat and then left the city.
The stolen vehicle was immediately entered into NCIC/FCIC as stolen, and was involved in two police pursuits, one in northern Florida and another in Gulfport, Mississippi on February 25th.
Milad was charged in Mississippi with fleeing and eluding. All three juveniles were taken into custody and transferred back to Florida.
On April 8th, 2021, a CCPD Property Crimes detective located Tanya and Angleena in Tampa and conducted follow-up interviews. Arrest warrants for Tanya and Angleena for Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft for the valuables that were stolen with the vehicle were submitted on April 22nd.
On May 6th, the State Attorney’s Office approved the above warrants for Tanya and Angleena.
On May 8th, Tanya was arrested for the above warrants in Lakeland, Florida and Angleena was arrested in Charlotte County, Florida.
Both were extradited back to Lee County for processing. The victim was notified of the arrest and was thrilled with how this process worked out.
