If you have overdue traffic tickets or court fees in Lee County that are affecting the status of your driver’s license, Clerk Linda Doggett is giving you a break on collection fees during Operation Green Light.

The in-house and virtual event is part of a statewide initiative designed to help drivers get back on the road.

In Lee County, the event will be held Feb 22 – Mar 4 from 8 am to 5 pm, Mar 5 from 8 am to 7 pm (virtual after 5 pm) and Mar 6 from 9 am to 2 pm (virtual only.)

Customers who wish to pay in cash or by check at the Justice Center or the Cape Coral Office must schedule an appointment at LeeClerk.org. Only TeleClerk services are available during extended office hours.

“Customers have the opportunity to participate in Operation Green Light from the safety and convenience of their home,” Doggett said.

“Our new video conferencing service is especially beneficial to all our customers who have suspended driver licenses and cannot drive to the Justice Center.”

If customers are unable to pay in full during the event, they can still benefit from the substantial savings by signing up for a payment plan. Once all court fees and traffic tickets are paid in full, customers may be eligible to reinstate their driver licenses. Additional fees may be required by the Tax Collector’s office to reinstate a driver license.

Payments by credit card are subject to a transaction fee. Customers with in-person appointments can make payments in cash, cashier’s check, money order or credit card. Appointments will be held at the Justice Center, 2075 MLK Blvd. in Fort Myers and 1039 SE 9th Pl. in Cape Coral.

Customers who pay in person are required to undergo CDC-recommended health screenings. Temperatures are checked at security checkpoints, face coverings are required while inside the building, and social distancing is enforced.

During last year’s event, nearly 850 customers saved more than $1 million and 545 were able to reinstate their license.
