VEHICLE 1: Gray 2016 Ford Fusion, Florida tag, driven by Maria Elena Real De Mirabilio, of North Fort Myers, FL. Real De Mirabilio suffered possible life threatening injuries, which were later downgraded to non-life-threatening.
SYNOPSIS:
Vehicle 1 (newspaper delivery) was traveling northbound on SE 21st Ave in the 3600 block of SE 21st Ave. The driver thought she put the vehicle in park but mistakenly placed the vehicle in reverse. Driver 1 exited the vehicle not realizing it was in reverse and was knocked to the ground by her vehicle.
The front left wheel of Vehicle 1 then rolled over Driver 1’s left leg and pinned her to the ground. Driver 1 was trapped under the wheel of Vehicle 1 for an unknown length of time until she was discovered by a neighbor who was leaving for work.
Driver 1 was removed from under the vehicle by CCFD and was transported to a local hospital by Lee County EMS. The injuries were initially thought to be life threatening, but were later downgraded to non-life-threatening by attending medical personnel.
THI Officer J. Barkley responded to the scene along with additional day time traffic units.
Alcohol/drugs ARE NOT afactor in this traffic crash. Next-of-kin HAVE BEEN notified.
